Student Reward Event in Atherton, Greater Manchester
Last Friday, we returned to a local secondary school in Atherton, Greater Manchester, for a student reward event. This is an event that we have covered for the last three years.
Following the COVID-19 pandemic and the return to 'normal', this school noticed that students seemed particularly stressed about upcoming exams and modern day life as social distancing regulations were starting to be relaxed. The school sought feedback from students on activities they would enjoy during school. One particular piece of feedback struck a chord with senior staff - one young student simply said, they wanted to have 'fun'.
This feedback led to the creation of this event, which has now been held for the last three years, on a Friday, close to Spring half term. It's a two hour event, starting as school finishes at 3pm.

This type of event is growing in popularity across the North West with schools organising activities to reward students for hard work, great attendance, and punctuality. We've also seen schools staging these experiences as a form of stress relief for students either before or after end of year exams. The school’s feedback on Friday was that they'd like to organise another date for inflatable activities later in the year, perhaps tying into their annual sports day.
