Cancellation policy - SJ's Leisure
At SJ's Leisure, we aim to offer the fairest and best quality service available.
Once you have placed an order, either online or over the telephone, you have entered into a contract. However, we understand that cancellations may be necessary from time to time under exceptional circumstances. Our cancellation terms are outlined below and are designed to be very reasonable.
This policy is in place to protect both parties best interests and ensure that our out-of-pocket expenses are covered. It is not designed to be profitable on our part.
Cancellation Terms
Orders up to £100:
- Cancellations are accepted. All we ask is that you cancel the order at least 7 days before your event.
- Deposit fees and booking fees are strictly non-refundable and non-transferable.
- Should your order be cancelled later than 7 days before your event or on the day of the event (including refusal of delivery on arrival), your order will be subject to a 100% cancellation fee (reduced to 50% if paid within 7 days) to cover costs already laid out for your booking, such as the 'hold', testing and organising of your equipment, test loading up, vehicle & generator hire, and staff commitments, which must be paid for regardless of whether your event goes ahead or not.
Orders between £100 and £200:
- Cancellations are accepted but must be made at least 10 days in advance of the event in order to avoid a cancellation charge.
- Deposit fees and booking fees are strictly non-refundable and non-transferable.
- Cancellations made between 10 days in advance of the event and up until 12 pm (noon) on the day before your event will be subject to a 50% cancellation fee (reduced to 25% if paid within 7 days) to cover our costs.
- Should your order be cancelled after 12 pm (noon) on the day before your event or on the day of the event (including refusal of delivery on arrival), your order will be subject to a 100% cancellation fee to cover costs already laid out for your booking, such as the 'hold', testing and organising of your equipment, loading up, vehicle & generator hire, and staff commitments.
Orders between £200 and £400:
- Cancellations are accepted but must be made at least 14 days in advance of the event in order to avoid a cancellation charge.
- Deposit fees and booking fees are strictly non-refundable and non-transferable.
- Cancellations made between 14 days in advance of the event and up until 12 pm (noon) on the day before your event will be subject to a 50% cancellation fee (reduced to 25% if paid within 7 days) to cover our costs.
- Should your order be cancelled after 12 pm (noon) on the day before your event or on the day of the event (including refusal of delivery on arrival), your order will be subject to a 100% cancellation fee (reduced to 50% if paid within 7 days) to cover costs already laid out for your booking.
Orders over £400:
- All orders over the value of £400 are subject to a 50% cancellation fee, regardless of when the order or cancellation is made, due to the large amount of preparation and event management that will have taken place.
- Deposit fees and booking fees are strictly non-refundable and non-transferable.
- Should your order be cancelled after 12 pm (noon) on the day before your event or on the day of the event (including refusal of delivery on arrival), your order will be subject to a 100% cancellation fee (reduced to 50% if paid within 7 days) to cover costs already laid out for your booking.
Cancellations on Arrival Due to Fitting Issues or Unsuitable Surfaces:
- All sizes, dimensions, and suitable surfaces are clearly displayed on our website under the 'size' and 'suitability' tab of each product listing.
- Should we arrive on the day and the items do not fit in your chosen venue or event area, or the surface is unsuitable (e.g., 'untidy' surface or incorrect surface type - artificial grass for example), your order will be subject to a 100% cancellation fee to cover costs already laid out for your booking.
Prior Cancellations:
- As part of our cancellation policy, any customer(s) who have previously cancelled a hire with our company will flag up on our booking system, and we may require pre-payment for the hire.
Refusal of Delivery:
- Should our team arrive at your venue and, for whatever reason, you cancel the booking, your order will be subject to a 100% cancellation fee to cover costs already laid out for your booking.
- Wet or bad weather is not a valid reason for turning us away without notice, and the cancellation charge will still apply.
- The only way to avoid a penalty is to provide our delivery team with a copy of your Cancellation Confirmation i.e. sent email that has been received and confirmed by our office team.
Failure to Pay
Failure to pay on the day will result in your case being presented to Daniel Silverman Ltd, as outlined below.
General Terms Applicable to All Cancellations
- All cancellations must be made in writing via email regardless of how the equipment was booked, and within the time scales outlined above.
- Cancellations left on voicemail are not acceptable, as they may not be picked up until after your event. You must speak with a human being during normal working hours (Mon-Fri, 9 am - 5 pm). Failure to do so may result in a cancellation charge.
- If you do not receive confirmation from us within 24 hours of an email cancellation, please contact us immediately via telephone (01744 602716) to verify your request has been received. If no verification can be provided, or if no cancellation email is produced, you will still be charged the appropriate fee.
- No cancellation is final until we have sent you a cancellation notice via email. If you haven't received the email, please call us to verify and avoid disappointment or a charge.
Legal Action
Failure to adhere to the payment terms and conditions will result in your file being passed over to Daniel Silverman Ltd for action.
Daniel Silverman Ltd (Registered Company Number 3998129) is a dedicated debt recovery agent acting on our behalf to recover any outstanding payments and will represent us in court proceedings if necessary. Daniel Silverman Ltd are members of the Credit Services Association (CSA), are registered with the Data Protection Agency (Reg No. Z08889433), and are licensed under the Consumer Credit Act (Licence No. 572341 – Issued by the Office of Fair Trading). Should Daniel Silverman Ltd be instructed to act on our behalf, they will automatically increase the outstanding balance of this invoice by at least 15%.
