Delivery fees
Delivery fees may apply depending on your delivery location due to increased fuel costs, travel time etc, when you select your desired product on this website and enter your delivery postcode, the website will calculate a full hire quotation including delivery fee, this will be clearly displayed.
Fixed delivery and collection times
SJ's Leisure offer the option of fixed delivery and collection times for certain types of events. Generally this option applies to VENUES ONLY. For example, if you require a product from 11am until 3pm at a VENUE you must select this option and inform us of your fixed delivery and collection times at the time of booking. There is an added fee for this option which is clearly displayed on your booking form. If you make a booking and do not add the fixed time delivery option but do require it or are not present on site at the time of delivery and the driver does need to return to make delivery, a fixed time charge will be applied or in some cases re-applied.
FIXED TIMES ARE AVAILABLE BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 10AM AND 5PM ONLY.
Fixed delivery and collection times fee does not apply to items such as rodeo rides, photobooths were we provide an operator to attend to your equipment.
Booking fees
For all of our bookings, we require a booking fee payment. On most items this is a ~20% and this is paid through the PayPal website either by PayPal account or a credit or debit card that the website accepts. Booking fees secure your chosen hire product(s) on your chosen date(s). The booking fee is strictly non-refundable and non-transferrable. In the case of adverse and unsafe weather conditions, we will offer the customer the opportunity to move their hire product(s) indoors as all products have the potential to be used indoors at community centres, sports halls, social clubs etc. In the event that this is not possible, the booking fee is retained by us as your chosen hire product(s) could have been potentially hired indoors by another customer.
Booking fee payments are approximately 20%. It's 20% rounded up to the nearest £10 marker.
Can anyone sign, supervise and pay for the items?
A responsible adult (18+) must be available at the delivery location when the items are delivered in order to sign for the items, to supervise the items and also to pay any remaining balances which might be remaining. In the event that a responsible adult is not on site available to sign, supervise and pay any remaining balance, the products WILL NOT be left, any booking fee payments WILL NOT be refunded.
Can the bouncy castle be set up on a slope?
If you are unsure that the set up area for any of our products is suitable. Please contact our friendly office team by email (info@sjleisure.co.uk) prior to making your booking. It is always helpful and advisable to send over photos of the area so that our team are in a better position to advise you.
Does the inflatable have to be set up on my own property?
Yes, the inflatable must be set up on your own property, unless the event is properly organised i.e. funday and the organisers have written permission to use the land from the relevant people/organisations. WE WILL NOT SET UP ANY INFLATABLE ON OPEN SPACES SUCH AS FIELDS AT THE SIDES OR BACKS OF HOUSES AND THE LIKE ETC. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but health and safety is paramount.
If you would like further clarification on whether a space is suitable please contact us before booking.
Set up area
By completing a booking form you are confirming that your set up area fully complies with our terms and conditions as outlined on this website. It is yours (the customers) responsibility to check that the area is clear of any underground pipes or cables. We will not and cannot accept any liability for any damage or losses to any underground pipes or cables. Please note, due to most new homes and properties having an upgraded electrical system with built in RCD's, we now only supply RCD's to customers who haven't got RCD protection. Please inform us at the time of booking so we can have the correct equipment with us at the time of delivery.
We strictly do not set up any inflatable items on open, hard surface areas such as car parks, playgrounds without prior notice as we must do a site visit and get permission to anchor bolt the inflatable.
I booked the equipment to be set up on real grass but I'm about to replace the real grass with artificial grass, will this cause an issue?
For most inflatable products, this will cause an issue. For all products which are primarily used for bouncing and sliding - bouncy castles, inflatable obstacle courses, inflatable slides, bouncy castle combos and large inflatables - gladiator duels, demolition zones etc we must stake the inflatable unit down to prevent it from lifting and potentially taking off. Small inflatables such as an inflatable penalty shoot-out, inflatable 8ft dartboard etc may be possible to set up on artificial grass and / or concrete but you must first discuss this with our friendly office team by email (info@sjleisure.co.uk) to see if this is possible and safe.
If you have booked an inflatable mentioned above for the wrong surface type - please contact our friendly office team as soon as possible. There is no magic solution on the day and this can cause undue stress and disappointment. The only method our delivery team can offer when arriving at a set up site which is artificial grass is to stake the equipment down as would be done on real grass. If you continue with your hire, you accept this method of anchorage.
Safety is paramount and we must follow health and safety LAW.
How long does it take to set up/inflate/deflate/pack up products?
Some of our products can be set up within 5 minutes. Other products may take up to an hour. Set up and pack down of product varies product to product. For further information on how long to set up and pack down a particular product, please contact our friendly office team by email (info@sjleisure.co.uk) who will be happy to advise you further.
How much space is needed?
All items listed on this website have the dimensions stated in the relevant 'tab' of the product listing. All passageways must be at least 33 inches wide to allow access for the inflatable to be transported to set up site. Please make sure all garden items such as garden toys, swings, slides, patio furniture, rubbish etc, are removed from the area where the castle is to be sited. Please also note that any pet mess MUST be have cleared away prior to us arriving, as we have a busy schedule and cannot always wait. Cleaning charge may apply to equipment that this affects!
Deliveries made through venues and homes
For deliveries and collections which are made 'through buildings' i.e. bringing equipment through homes etc please note we bring the equipment through at your own risk, we will not accept responsibility for any damages caused, we do insist that deliveries and collections are made through a large access area such as side, back gate unless unavoidable. There is a small charge applicable for any deliveries that must be taken through homes. Please be aware that most items when wrapped are very similar in size to a standard house hold wheelie bin. This is the average size space that you will need clear throughout your access route. If your item is listed online as not suitable for delivery through the house / utility rooms etc this is non-negotiable.
Can inflatables be set up on pub car parks etc on hard standing
We strictly do not set up inflatables on hard standing on open areas such as pub car parks, playgrounds etc without prior consultation. Should you wish to set up inflatables on such areas please contact our office before booking to discuss whether we could safely erect the equipment on your potential set up area. If we arrive at a booking which is on such a surface without prior consultation and agreement then the equipment WILL NOT BE SET UP and any booking fee's paid WILL NOT be refunded and full payment would be required.
Once inflated, can I turn off the power?
Almost all of our products are 'constant air flow inflatables'. This means that the inflatable needs power to the fan when in use to supply air into the inflatable. To keep the correct equilibrium, the inflatable purposely 'leaks' air through the stitching and this stops the inflatable from over-inflating and bursting. Once set up, if you are not planning to use the inflatable, you can switch it off at the power source until you are ready to use however you must keep the power and fan running when the equipment is in use.
What if it rains?
Inflatables can be hired in light rain showers as most of our bouncy castles and inflatables feature rain/shower covers. These covers are suitable for most weather conditions, however they are not 100% waterproof. In the event of rain, we strongly recommend you towel dry the inflatable and area surrounding to prevent slips.
** PLEASE NOTE, IN UNSAFE WEATHER CONDITIONS, SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT. SJ's LEISURE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CANCEL ANY OUTDOOR EVENT IN THE CASE OF BAD WEATHER AS THIS ADDS EXTRA RISK TO OUR RISK ASSESSMENT. THIS DECISION ISN'T TAKEN LIGHTLY AND WE WILL CONTACT YOU AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE TO DISCUSS OPTIONS. **
What happens in the event of windy/gusty conditions?
In the case of high wind speed and/or gusty conditions, which exceed 24mph all outdoor events would be cancelled.
Is there an age limit for using the kids castles?
Most inflatables have a height limit rather than an age limit, this height limit can be found on each product listing on the 'suitability' or 'users' tab, however most manufacturers of children's bouncy castles state that children's bouncy castles are suitable for children up to the age of 12.
Is there a maximum age limit on the adult bouncy castle?
We think everyone should be able to have fun however it is the hirer’s responsibility to supervise the unit and users do so at their own risk. Each product has a max user height limit. This limit and user numbers should not be exceeded at any time.
When I hire the castle is there anything I need to provide?
We supply all the hardware you will need for the castle, you will need to provide a 13amp 240 volts mains power supply (unless external power such as diesel generator, petrol fan has been ordered), also you will need to provide 2 forms of I.D; a photo ID such as drivers license, passport and also a recent utility bill. This forms part of the hire agreement. Please have this with you at the time of delivery. Failure to produce this at the time of delivery may result in a cancellation of your hire. To ensure all deliveries run smoothly please have this ready before we arrive. Even if you have previously hired from us, we will ask for this, this is essential and forms part of our terms and conditions.
Do you supply safety instructions?
Yes, we provide safety instructions with every hire both verbally at the time of delivery and also by email prior to your hire.
Clothing
We recommend that all users wear long sleeved clothing and long pants when using inflatables. There is always a chance of friction burns on any inflatable so long sleeved clothing and long pants reduces this problem. No shoes must be worn on inflatables at any time.
Cleaning charges
The last thing we as acompany wish to do is charge a cleaning charge however, in circumstances were the equipment you have hired has been mistreated and is dirty, a cleaning charge will apply of at least £30. Prior to our arrival for collection please ensure that all equipment is in a clean condition similar to the condition it arrived in.
WE STRICTLY DO NOT HIRE INFLATABLES TO BE USED FOR PAINT PARTIES, COLOUR RUNS OR ANYTHING THAT MAY STAIN OR OTHERWISE DAMAGE AN INFLATABLE OR PRODUCT. SHOULD YOU HIRE ONE OF OUR INFLATABLES OR PRODUCTS FOR THIS PURPOSE, YOU WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CLEANING AND REPAIR OF THE INFLATABLE AND PRODUCT AND THIS MAY TOTAL THE AMOUNT TO COMPLETELY REPLACE THE INFLATABLE AND LOSS OF EARNINGS.
Do your staff carry DBS checks (formerly CRB checks)?
No, it is now ILLEGAL for our company to apply for DBS checks for any of our staff as their job roles do not fall under those eligible. DBS checks are for people who only have unsupervised access to children and vulnerable adults. Our staff are present at your event simply to set up equipment safely and efficiently, not to supervise the participants themselves. The event organiser is responsible for ensuring that there is adequate supervision of the users. For any event which we supervise at an additional cost, we would not be left unsupervised.
Damage / losses charges
Again, the last thing we want as a company is to charge customers for any damage or losses to our equipment, however in instances were the equipment has been misused which has resulted in damage or loss of equipment you (the customer) will be charged accordingly for any repairs, replacements, loss of earnings etc.
Insurance
As a company we carry full public liability insurance to cover all of our hire products and services. Public liability insurance is not a legal requirement for hire companies but is considered best practice by the HSE. Public liability insurance covers all aspects of the work undertaken by ourselves i.e set up and pack down. The supervision aspect of any hire is the responsibility of the customer. Customers can take out optional liability insurance to cover their event at their own expense and through their own means of organising.
Anymore rules?
STRICTLY NO SILLY STRING, PARTY POPPERS, FOOD OR DRINK, FACEPAINTS, PENS, GLITTER, CONFETTI ETC ARE TO BE TAKEN ONTO ANY OF OUR INFLATABLES. IF EVIDENCE OF THIS IS FOUND ON COLLECTION THEN A CLEANING CHARGE WILL APPLY.
WHILST EQUIPMENT IS ON HIRE TO YOU FROM SJ'S LEISURE, WITHOUT OUR STAFF PRESENT, YOU (THE CUSTOMER / CLIENT) ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SUPERVISION AND SAFE KEEPING OF THE EQUIPMENT AND IT'S USERS. UNDER EXCEPTIONAL CIRCUMSTANCE OUR COLLECTION MAY BE LATER THAN PLANNED, DURING THIS TIME YOU ARE STILL RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SUPERVISION AND SAFE KEEPING OF THE EQUIPMENT. SJ'S LEISURE CANNOT AND WILL NOT ACCEPT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE OR LOSS OF PERSONAL PROPERTY AND / OR ANY INJURY ARISING FROM THE USE OF THE EXTENDED HIRE. SJ'S LEISURE CANNOT AND WILL NOT ACCEPT LIABILITY FOR LOSS OR DAMAGE TO OUR PROPERTY WHILST IN YOUR CARE UNTIL SUCH A TIME AS WE ARE ABLE TO COLLECT THE ITEM(S).
Got another question?
Sorry we couldn’t give you all the answers you were hoping for, please Contact Us and we’ll come straight back to you
DISCLAIMER: Whilst we endeavour to deliver all of our equipment on time and in good condition, On extremely rare occasion’s things don’t always go as planned due to circumstances out of control.
As you will be aware SJ's Leisure offer an overnight hire service which sometimes requires us to collect items from the previous hire just before delivering it to your venue. In extreme cases we sometimes find that the equipment is wet or dirty and may have to be wiped over and/or dried out once we reach your venue so please ensure you have allowed plenty of time for us to carry out these duties before your party starts. We usually recommend one hour just in case.
In addition to this we very occasionally find that the equipment has been damaged and unreported by the previous hirer and as such we may have to (without warning) substitute your equipment for something similar to ensure that we don’t let you down on the day.
